Six Word Life Motto

I swiped this from Starrlight.

The task is to write a six word life motto and include a visual.

My dreams as a kid were football...



...and the Marines Corps.



But those things didn't work out. I won't rehash the whole story. I've written about it before.

Short version...I had my knees taken out in my last high school football game. And that ended any dreams of playing college football or going into the Corps. So my six word motto over the last 27 years has been...

Lost football, Corps...chose new path.



Edit: I just noticed on my visit counter that I've crossed the 13k visit threshold. So I wanted to thank everyone who has ever cruised by here for making that possible.

    I was never interested in the military but I wanted like Hell to play college ball. My problem, I grew up to be 5' 9" and 120 pounds when I graduated high school. Football dream ends, get an education.

    Charles: It took me awhile to turn it around, but I got there eventually.

    Ah Trav, Congrats on the blogging milestone. And since 2006; that's impressive that you have been at it that long.

    I'm sorry about football and the military. But I'm glad that you found something else fulfilling to do with your life.

    I have some regrets too, but mostly things that I could have helped. Not like your knees. Does that make it harder or easier to cope with I wonder, being something out of your hands, or from your own hand.

    I have been blessed, and I really do live a charmed life. And it sounds like you do too!

    I wish I could bake you a "Happy 13K visits" cake. You would LOVE it, I promise! I can't make meatloaf, but I can bake a cake!!!

    I'm sorry that your initial dreams didn't come true, but I hope that you are now living even more wonderful dreams, Trav. You certainly deserve the best, in my opinion.

    Gee Wiz Trav...so sorry about your dreams being ended by that football injury. My son's dreams were also shattered in his senior year, so I kinda know the dissapointment you felt after dealing with my son took to knowing he would never play football again. He had to have minor back surgery during the summer between his junior and senior year. He played two games and got hit in the area where the surgery was. Even though he had special equipment to protect the area, that hit was the last he would ever take. Till this day he has trouble speaking about it, but I recently noticed he put his his gold chain with his #55 back on. Maybe time has finally healed his pain. Just thought I would share a similiar story with you.

    You may have many disapointments in life, but remember that God dosn't close a door without opening a window. :-)

    Jennifer: I think it just makes it different, coping with something that was out of my control versus something I might have been able to control.

    Misty: Congrats on your team! And I'm doing ok for myself these days.

    Kimmie: Thanks for the story about your son. I still remember how bitter I felt, but I got over it for the most part. I do look back and wish things had been different, but it can't be changed so I work as hard as I can for the things I can do.
