It's what you do with the other 54
Posted: Tuesday, July 22, 2008 by Travis Cody inMy Dodgers took two out of three from the Diamondbacks over the weekend to pull into a tie for first in the NL West. Both teams won last night, so they remain tied at 49-50, seven games ahead of Colorado.
Yeah. I know. One game under .500 with 63 games to play. There are six teams in the NL with better records than Arizona and LA.
But the Dodgers have a team earned run average of 3.66, which stacks up against the Cubs' league leading ERA of 3.64. So I like our chances, especially with 10 games head to head against the D'backs, and 15 of the last 19 against teams with losing records.
So everybody wins 54 and loses 54. It's what you do with the other 54 games that counts. And my boys only need to be one game better than second place.
Still plenty of time left in the season. :)
