A dumb phrase
Posted: Friday, January 02, 2009 by Travis Cody inThis could be the most idiotic phrase uttered by pronouncers in college sports.
"This is the Nth time that these two teams have met."
This is college sports. Seniors graduate, freshman join the squad, sometimes student-athletes transfer, or professional prospects leave school early to enter the draft.
As such, the two teams would never have met more than once with the exact same group of players unless they played more than once in the same season.
College sports programs can meet many times across the years. But the closest two particular teams of the exact same group of players would get to playing each other more than once would be the group of freshman, sophomores, and juniors who might play the home-and-home over two years.
This particular phrase annoys me slightly more than the phrase "he's as good as anybody else".
That is all.
On a similar note, why do the people who print "This page is blank" (usually at the end of exam papers) fail to realise that No, it bl--dy isn't now!
