Results without encores

Yes, you read that title correctly. My internet connection is still a bit too wonky and I didn't want to risk not being able to post at all.
But if I were going to post encores, it would be links to every performance from Monday. That way y'all can make your own assessments of whether the scoring made sense or not. Because that's what this show comes down to. Did you like what you saw, and did you like it enough to vote?
Here's our leader board from Monday:
60 Gilles and Cheryl
56 Shawn and Mark
55 Melissa and Tony
48 Ty and Chelsie
And we are off to a rousing start with a performance from Raphael Saadiq.
The judges' encore selection is the Argentine Tango from Shawn and Mark.
How's this for silly? They tell us at the beginning of the show that Maks and Kym are in the ballroom to dance with the two remaining dancers in the new pro competition. So, since there were 2 gals and 1 guy left...how much of a surprise were the finalists going to be? We knew at least one of them! LOL!
We knew one finalist had to be Mayo and he dances Cha Cha Cha and Tango with Kym. Tango first. We just love his length. It adds such an elegance to his movement. Kym is pretty well matched to him in height. They cut a distinguished and sophisticated circuit of the floor. It was strong and passionate. They made some tremendous lines. We really enjoyed his choreography. Very well done.
Anna is the other finalist, dancing Samba and Quickstep with Maks. We don't envy her having to make a dance for Maks, let alone two dances. First up is Quickstep. She is a tremendous dancer. Love the dance she made! It was fast and vibrant and really emphasized Maks' personality. We've rarely seen him have that much fun in a dance. That was so good! Very well done.
We would be pleased with either Mayo or Anna. And even though they each have one more dance, Pam and I went ahead and voted early. We cancelled each other. She voted Anna, and I voted Mayo. Or I voted Anna and she voted Mayo. You can't make us choose!
Now it's the Macy's Stars of Dance Design a Dance. The fans voted all season for the dancers, the dance style, the music, and the costumes. It's a Quickstep with Mark, Derek, Julianne, and Lacey to It Don't Mean a Thing. That was out of control!
Oh, here are the Latin dances from the new pro finalists.
Mayo and Kym dance Cha Cha Cha. And it's a disco Cha Cha Cha. That wasn't our favorite dance of his. It might have been better if he had made a more traditional dance. In this dance, his height worked a little bit against him. We didn't care for this choreography this time around. He's definitely stronger in ballroom than Latin.
Anna and Maks dance Samba. Anna is a tremendous choreographer. She didn't shy away from making a difficult dance for her celebrity partner last week, and she really went for it with this Samba. She put together two tremendous dances for Maks and she held her own with him. She has proven how versatile she can be, and she is strong in both styles.
But you still can't make us choose!
Yikes! It's time for the toughest cut. Who will dance for that fabulous mirror ball trophy?
Gilles and Cheryl will dance for the trophy.
Shawn and Mark will dance for the trophy.
Melissa and Tony will dance for the trophy.
And that means that Ty and Chelsie will not.
I think we've got the best three pairs. It should be a tremendous finale.
I may go dark for a couple of days. I have to figure out why IE and Google suddenly don't want to play nice with each other. It may be time for Firefox.
Don't worry...Friday Feets is already scheduled.
See ya soon!
Hope your internet gets out of it's wonky fit soon. Yes I agree we do have the best three. I think Melissa will win it all, Gilles 2nd and Shawn 3rd...I hope I don't eat my words but if I do I'll just use salt and pepper on them :) Aloha
