Results without encores

Cue that theme music because it's live from Hollywood!

Yes, you read that title correctly. My internet connection is still a bit too wonky and I didn't want to risk not being able to post at all.

But if I were going to post encores, it would be links to every performance from Monday. That way y'all can make your own assessments of whether the scoring made sense or not. Because that's what this show comes down to. Did you like what you saw, and did you like it enough to vote?

Here's our leader board from Monday:

60 Gilles and Cheryl
56 Shawn and Mark
55 Melissa and Tony
48 Ty and Chelsie

And we are off to a rousing start with a performance from Raphael Saadiq.

The judges' encore selection is the Argentine Tango from Shawn and Mark.

How's this for silly? They tell us at the beginning of the show that Maks and Kym are in the ballroom to dance with the two remaining dancers in the new pro competition. So, since there were 2 gals and 1 guy left...how much of a surprise were the finalists going to be? We knew at least one of them! LOL!

We knew one finalist had to be Mayo and he dances Cha Cha Cha and Tango with Kym. Tango first. We just love his length. It adds such an elegance to his movement. Kym is pretty well matched to him in height. They cut a distinguished and sophisticated circuit of the floor. It was strong and passionate. They made some tremendous lines. We really enjoyed his choreography. Very well done.

Anna is the other finalist, dancing Samba and Quickstep with Maks. We don't envy her having to make a dance for Maks, let alone two dances. First up is Quickstep. She is a tremendous dancer. Love the dance she made! It was fast and vibrant and really emphasized Maks' personality. We've rarely seen him have that much fun in a dance. That was so good! Very well done.

We would be pleased with either Mayo or Anna. And even though they each have one more dance, Pam and I went ahead and voted early. We cancelled each other. She voted Anna, and I voted Mayo. Or I voted Anna and she voted Mayo. You can't make us choose!

Now it's the Macy's Stars of Dance Design a Dance. The fans voted all season for the dancers, the dance style, the music, and the costumes. It's a Quickstep with Mark, Derek, Julianne, and Lacey to It Don't Mean a Thing. That was out of control!

Oh, here are the Latin dances from the new pro finalists.

Mayo and Kym dance Cha Cha Cha. And it's a disco Cha Cha Cha. That wasn't our favorite dance of his. It might have been better if he had made a more traditional dance. In this dance, his height worked a little bit against him. We didn't care for this choreography this time around. He's definitely stronger in ballroom than Latin.

Anna and Maks dance Samba. Anna is a tremendous choreographer. She didn't shy away from making a difficult dance for her celebrity partner last week, and she really went for it with this Samba. She put together two tremendous dances for Maks and she held her own with him. She has proven how versatile she can be, and she is strong in both styles.

But you still can't make us choose!

Yikes! It's time for the toughest cut. Who will dance for that fabulous mirror ball trophy?

Gilles and Cheryl will dance for the trophy.

Shawn and Mark will dance for the trophy.

Melissa and Tony will dance for the trophy.

And that means that Ty and Chelsie will not.

I think we've got the best three pairs. It should be a tremendous finale.

I may go dark for a couple of days. I have to figure out why IE and Google suddenly don't want to play nice with each other. It may be time for Firefox.

Don't worry...Friday Feets is already scheduled.

See ya soon!

Hope your internet gets out of it's wonky fit soon. Yes I agree we do have the best three. I think Melissa will win it all, Gilles 2nd and Shawn 3rd...I hope I don't eat my words but if I do I'll just use salt and pepper on them :) Aloha

I have never watched DWTS; my mom never misses it. Perhaps I should watch. You make it sound exciting.

My Firefox has been a bit wonky lately. Updates after updates... I've been testing Safari and Google Chrome, too. Actually, I keep flip-flopping. I like some things about one, but hate another, etc.

I hope you're up and running soon!

Don't you hate it when things go wonkydonky?? Hope you get it fixed soon!

The final three are the ones that truly belong there and hold on to your seats folks, it's gonna be a good one!! Among the pros you have two that have won before and one that deserves to win. Wahoo!!

I do think it is the correct final three. I am afraid that Shawn may be at a disadvantage here. With all due respect to the Olympic champion, she is thick as a brick and cannot create the same elegant lines produced by Gilles and Melissa. At this point, I give Gilles the edge, but if Melissa could get her wardrobe from Edyta, she could make us all forget about her footwork!
The "Design a Dance" as out of control, and not in a good way. It really did not resemble a quick-step. See ya next Monday for the finale.

Looks like I got it right again :o)

I wish I could help with your connection problems, but I have no clue...

  1. I love it when people use the word wonky. I feel it's very underused and I think I will make a point of saying it today...which could be hard, considering the amount of people (and age of them) I will talk to.

    Anyway, have a great day!!

Is a spanking in order? Well....if they can't play nicely...you know...

  1. Akelamalu says:

Well they gave the game away didn't they?? LOL

Sorry to hear still having trouble with your internet.

I HATE it when my internet connection plays up but I LOVE it when the dancing show final works out right!

    Sad and happy for you......

Your posts about the show are awesome. Very well written... and I love the kitty :)

I hope your technical issues are resolved quickly. Since I am a techno-duh, I don't really understand what they are but I hope everything will "play pretty" for you soon.

Have you updated IE lately, I did and have been having trouble ever since
when I close a blog it opens again and then the window freezes
I'm in and out of taskmaster so often it's making me nuts

I started using firefox because it was the only way I could get on bond's blog but now IE works fine there and firefox is an issue

    Oy!!

I'm all ready for Gilles to win though I'd be happy for Melissa as well

  1. I believe that the final three is how it should be (well maybe Shawn for Lil Kim )

But it should be fun fun fun...I think Shawn does have a disadvantage because I think the other couples will be able to handle lifts better...

  1. Thom: I downloaded Firefox and that seems to have settled things down for now. But there are still a few issues.

Nick: Checking out Monday's performance finale is a good place to start.

Barb: I thought about Chrome, especially since the main trouble seems to be Google apps.

Marsha: I'm really rooting for Tony. He's such a great dancer and a fine choreographer. I think it's going to be close between M&T and G&C.

Drilleraa: Shawn could surprise due to her fanbase, but I think she has to get the right dancers for her. Based on last week, I'd say Gilles is the front runner with Melissa a very close 2nd.

Ivanhoe: That's ok. I'll just keep trying.

Mags: Wonky is an extremely useful word.

Julie: I gave them a stern talking to. We'll see if that helps.

    NNG: Thanks!

Akelamalu: That was so silly. But par for the course with this silly show!

    TC: I'll take it!

Jennifer: I used that kitty last season during the youth competition. They were all so good that we just didn't want to vote.

Dianne: I never update IE. I did it one time on my old PC years ago and nothing worked right. The tech hotline actually told me to switch back!

V: I think it's all down to the fans now, especially if the judges set the scores close. Best dancer isn't always the winner as we have seen in past seasons.
