And cue music. Welcome to

I have three encores for you, and any one of them could have taken dance of the night honors.

First, we have the amazing vision of Mia Michaels brought to life by Kayla and Kupono. Click here.

Next is the sultry Argentine Tango made by Miriam Larici and Leonardo Barrionuevo, interpreted excellently by Janette and Brandon. Click here.

Dance of the night goes to Janette and Brandon for their stunning work with Wade Robson. Click here or just watch it here if the video is still available. This is one of the best dances of this season, and of any season.

Well gang, we've come to one of the harshest eliminations. Traditionally, only the Top 10 go on the tour. And we have 12 dancers as the results show begins.

Now I know you've been waiting for it...we have LEGSES! Mmmmmmmm.

The group number is Hip Hop choreographed by Tab and Nap. Very militant and slammin'.

Oh...Happy Birthday to Nigel Lythgoe, who celebrates his 60th birthday.

Regrettably, SYTYCD will not be able to do a Michael Jackson tribute with his music through all of the various genres of dance. But they couldn't get the music cleared.

Here we go with results.

Janette and Brandon are safe. Randi and Evan are safe. Kayla and Kupono are safe. They are in the Top 10 and on the fall tour.

Caitlin and Jason are in danger. Jeanine and Phillip are in danger. Melissa and Ade are in danger.

Woooooooooooooo!!! We get to see some footage of the audition tour for Season 6. This is going to be a regular feature every Thursday going forward. Cool!

Solos:

Caitlin - I don't think that's going to be good enough
Jason - He's still dancing a bit to frantic and desperate for my taste
Jeanine - She is emerging as a real contender and that solo was excellent
Phillip - He is brilliant at what he does
Melissa - Figured her to go en pointe, but didn't like it as well as I wanted to
Ade - Whoa! He did a back lay-out off of a solid dance floor that a gymnast would do off a tumbling mat! The height and position were incredible. But the landing! It was so soft. Whoa!

I think the decision as to who is out comes down to three things.

  1. Body of work
  2. Composition of the talent on tour
  3. Solo work
Kelly Rowland and David Guetta are the musical guest. Meh.

OK...here we go with the final decision from the judges. After this, all eliminations are in the hands of the voters as we continue our search for America's Favorite dancer.

The decision for the gals is unanimous. Nigel thinks all 6 gals are brilliant. He says that every dancer needs to be a star, but he doesn't believe everyone has hit that mark yet. Jeanine and Melissa make Top 10, and Caitlin is out. Nigel says she is wonderful but didn't reach her potential yet.

The decision for the guys is also unanimous. Nigel again says that all 6 guys are brilliant and looks forward to seeing them in the future. He tells Phillip that although he is unique in what he does, he has been disappointing in the other styles. Jason and Ade are in the Top 10. Phillip is out.

Wow. That's a bit of a surprising result for the guys. I was certain that Nigel would want Phillip on the tour.

Ah-ha! Nigel says Phillip will be on the tour, as will Caitlin. That's a good result, expanding from Top 10 to Top 12 for the tour. Phillip was going to continue to struggle with choreography outside of his own genre, but he was outstanding as a Popper and that should be on display during the tour. Phillip proves that talent will find a way to shine, and he is an inspiration for other street dancers to persevere.

So our Top 5 gals are Janette, Jeanine, Kayla, Melissa, and Randi. And our Top 5 guys are Brandon, Ade, Evan, Kupono, and Jason. Next week, it'll be random pairs out of the hat.

Hey, I took about 80 pictures at the car show a couple of weeks ago and I just haven't had time to go through them and pick out some to share with you for a Friday Feets. I'll try to get to them this weekend. I do have one I can share. This is a Duesenberg.

I believe the reflection in the door is a 1968 Mustang. A lot of the pictures have these distorted reflections. I'm a little disappointed by that.

I am thrilled that the tour will include the top 12. I thought Phillip was at the end of his run. Caitlin's departure surprised me a little bit, but I thought all three girls were very good. Under different circumstances I would have expected to see Jason and Phillip gone and all three girls stay.
    Love the Duce....she's a doozey!

This was a surprising results show.

First... SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Our boy is safe!!!!!

Fashion commentary of the week: Cat bring a sense of style to the show. I loved the simple peacock Egyptian dress. It might be a British thing, but if you put her next to Samantha Harris, she'd outshine her easily. With Cat, you get sexy sophistication (and LEGSES) but with Samantha, it's frankly too sexpot.

OK... Ade blew my mind with his solo. He grasped the "dance for your life" concept very well. I told you that flip was amazing! Air Ade!!

Caitlin is a beautiful dancer with lovely lines, the problem "for me, dawg" is that she's too vanilla, so I'm not disappointed.

Melissa will have to be careful from now on... she'll probably lose her crane ;)

I couldn't figure out how they let Phillip go until they mentioned adding him to the tour. I probably would have preferred seeing Jason leave to be honest, but maybe I'll see something in him when he's paired with someone else.

  1. Marsha says:

Well, I was half right. I was surprised by Caitlin's boot...but then all the gals were good...and somebody had to go.

Let's see Melissa do a Sonya or a hip hop or a crump....move off the toes and those leg extentions and see what she can do.

A Duese...now you are talking my kind of car!!

  1. Anonymous says:

Well I was a little bit shocked that Caitlin was the girl that got the boot. She's been in the bottom so many times that I should have figured it. Phillip I thought was the right choice. I'm glad they will be on tour with the group however. I guess now things get real difficult :) Aloha :)

The Argentine Tango clip was superb!

  1. Love reading you writing about dancers, but I WANT that Dusie!!!

Those 1930s era convertibles were to die for. Have you ever seen the modern car based on that sort of design: The Clenet

  1. Ivanhoe says:

I had to bigify that red beauty to see the reflection you were talking about. It's not that bad, now you have a pic of two beauties :o)

  1. Feeling good that Melissa is still with us. I see many do not care for her, but I do.

I thought it was interesting that Nigel explained the judges knew who were in the bottom 3 earlier in the day and pretty much came into the show 'knowing' who would be eliminated.

  1. That video clip was AMAZING.

  1. I love the Mustang in the door!

  1. Kanani says:

I'm glad they changed the thinking on the elimination by talking about their strengths. It's always so close, they're all so good.

Trav: I had to come back. Here's Cat on Conan last night FOR CAT CLICK HERE I hope the link works...What legs and as Cherie said 3" heels WOOT

  1. TopChamp says:

Nice! I have not been keeping up so there's a lot of dancing for me to watch now....

We were home last weekend near Silverstone and passed a lot of classic cars on our way to Mum and Dad's. You'd have been in your element. It is pretty exciting to see them driving past... or more accurately to see them driving as WE pass.

  1. TopChamp says:

that dance is very funny when it freezes on the play in inopportune moments.

  1. Driller: I think the gals might me a bit stronger and more competitive at this point that the guys.

Ann: Ade fascinates me because of how light he is for such a big guy.

Marsha: It's going to be interesting to see which of the individuals in the pairs were pulling the votes, and how they translate going forward as we begin voting for dancers and not pairs.

Thom: We're going to start to see who the voters really like now.

Akelamalu: They did a fantastic job with that dance.

Jamie: That Duese was first class. I'd never seen one in person before.

Ivanhoe: It was tough to get pictures without reflections that day.

V: I guess they figure they had nothing to lose with that revelation since this was their last save. I suspect the meeting during the show is one of those times when they can ask once more "Are you sure?"

    Songbird: Wasn't it?

Mimi: It's ok I guess, but I wanted a clean shot of the Duese.

Kanani: It really is a great group.

Thom: She really does have great LEGSES.

TC: I love to see a parade of classics.

  1. Grandy says:

My nephew likes these dance shows as much as you do Trav, I think. I like the recaps when I can get here because I rarely have a chance to watch the show (my boys veto me).

I like the pic of the car! It's BEAUTIFUL!!! :)

  1. Personally I liked the tango better.

    And nice car!
