Welcome to So You Think You Can Dance. These are the auditions from Phoenix AZ. Judges are Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and Mia Michaels. Anya and Pasha choreographed Latin ballroom.
There was a gal called Sasha who was just so enchanting. She had a very beautiful solo. She auditioned before in season 4 and made it again straight to Vegas. In addition to her, I saw several female contemporary dancers who actually told stories in their auditions. Nice.

There was a gal called Allison who is hearing impaired. What I like about this show is that the judges acknowledge physical challenges but they judge the dancing. She measured up in choreography and earned her way to Vegas.

It's the return of same sex Latin ballroom, with Jacob and Willem. The dancing actually was very good. They had some excellent lines and there really was nothing wrong with their technique. They were put through to choreography, where they each performed equally well with female partners. And off they both went to Vegas.

Oh we've got a B-Boy named Legacy. He's good, but he was a bit light on tricks. I remember how good Hok and Dominic were in season 3. That's a huge standard against which to measure up.

Army Archerd (13 Jan 1922 - 8 Sept 2009) was a Hollywood columnist for Variety. He died from mesothelioma.

Larry Gelbart (25 Feb 1928 - 11 Sept 2009) was a TV writer, playwright, screenwriter, and author. He was a primary developer and co-writer of M*A*S*H and of the screenplay for Tootsie. He died from cancer.

Henry Gibson (21 Sept - 14 Sept 2009) was an actor and songwriter best known as a cast member on Laugh-in and on Boston Legal. He died from cancer.

Myles Brand (17 May 1942 - 16 Sept 2009) was a former president of Indiana University and also of the NCAA. He died from pancreatic cancer.

Mary Travers (11 Nov 1936 - 16 Sept 2009) was a singer songwriter with Peter, Paul, and Mary. She died of leukemia.

Celebrities garner accolades for their performances and attention when they pass. So I note them here, and from this extend my sincere condolences to all who have fought or may be fighting battles against cancer.
