Take This Tune

Huzzah for my pal Vinny! After the Phillies tied the game in the bottom of the 8th, his Yankees rallied in the top of the 9th to win last night, 7-4 to take a 3 games to 1 lead in the best of 7 World Series. NY can clinch the championship in game 5 tonight in Philadelphia.

AJ Burnett is scheduled to pitch for the Yankees, and Cliff Lee will go for the Phillies.

Take This Tune is a feature hosted by my pal Jamie at Duward Discussion. Jamie puts up a video prompt complete with lyrics to the song, and the task is to write something inspired by the title of the song or something in the lyrics.

I really enjoy participating in Jamie's feature because of where the prompts take my thoughts and emotions. This week's prompt is a song called When October Goes, lyrics by Johnny Mercer and music by Barry Manilow. It sent me to this song by Mr Manilow.

One Voice
Barry Manilow

Just One Voice,
Singing in the darkness,
All it takes is One Voice,
Singing so they hear what's on your mind,
And when you look around you'll find
There's more than

One Voice,
Singing in the darkness,
Joining with your One Voice,
Each and every note another octave,
Hands are joined and fears unlocked,
If only

One Voice
Would start it on its own,
We need just One Voice facing the unknown,
And then that One Voice would never be alone,
It takes that One Voice.

It takes that One Voice.

Just One Voice
Singing in the darkness,
All it takes is One Voice,
Shout it out and let it ring.

Just One Voice,
It takes that One Voice,
And everyone will sing!

This is what Peace Globes are about...one voice on one blog, joining with other voices on other blogs, to effect a change in outlook and prompt active work toward peace in our individual lives, our immediate communities, our greater circles of awareness, and ultimately in our whole grand world.

It has to start individually.

"Be the change you want to see in the world." Mahatma Ghandi

Are you up for it? Won't you join us this Thursday, 5 November, and post a Peace Globe?

You know you want to join us. Come on. Do it.

I believe that words have power, so this matters.

  1. Somehow I knew you would join When October Goes to the Peace Globes. This year should be phenominal! As to the Yankess ... How can a Dodger lover root for the striped offenders? tsk tsk

  1. Thanks Travis...one more game..

Nancy has decided to have her own Globe...and I am so happy she has done so..

    It is a grand week

  1. I used to have the album "One Voice" was on. I thought it was cool that Manilow had sung all of the parts, himself. Yes, okay, I've said it...I LIKE BARRY MANILOW!!!

Oh yes Blogblast will be one voice all calling for PEACE. :)

  1. Jamie: Well, I used to be a hater but I haven't been able to work it up since 11 Sept 2001. I used to hate just about every Yankee player, but I like Jeter and Posada, and I liked Bernie Williams and a bunch of other Yankees over the last 10 years or so.

V: That's great that Nancy is doing her own Globe!

    Lana: We both do!

    Akelamalu: Indeed!

  1. I'm enjoying the series...can't get to excited about either team...I just like watching the series....peacefully.

  1. That song always gets me sentimental for one of the golden periods in my life - my high school choir days. My friend Mark did an arrangement for our choir of this song which actually mimics this one you've posted.

It began with one voice, and more people walked onstage joining in, until we all were one choir, one voice. We performed it for our choir variety show which was the graduating year for half of my friends - extremely bittersweet.

Great choice for the lead-up to BlogBlast for Peace.

I like the wing wings, not the baby drumettes -- hubby likes those. I guess that's why we're so well-matched.

See you on the fifth :o)
