Thursday Thoughts

The amount of time Mr Tucker wants to spend in my lap is directly proportional to the amount of time I need the computer in my lap to finish something important.

I'm so glad we decided to replace the blinds in each of the bedroom windows with curtains.

There's only one thing I really dislike about my Blackberry...finger smudges on the operating pad.  For those of you that have touch screen phones, doesn't that drive you nuts when your screen gets all smeared?

I don't like it when my time is wasted.

For those of you who live with cats, do yours get angry when you make the bed?  Mr Tucker gets positively mental.  We start spreading out the fitted sheet and he dives under it with his angry face and his angry voice and all points extended.  It's hilarious, as long as we keep our fingers and hands away from the pointy ends.  But I don't understand why it bugs him so much.

Just for giggles, here are the high and low temps in Seattle for the last 10 years on 1 June:

  • 1 June 2001:  64 with a low of 48, 0.19" of rain
  • 1 June 2002:  71 with a low of 53, it did not rain
  • 1 June 2003:  68 with a low of 54, it did not rain
  • 1 June 2004:  69 with a low of 46, it did not rain
  • 1 June 2005:  64 with a low of 52, 0.49 of rain
  • 1 June 2006:  69 with a low of 57, 0.24" of rain
  • 1 June 2007:  77 with a low of 55.0, it did not rain
  • 1 June 2008:  57 with a low of 50, it did not rain
  • 1 June 2009:  79 with a low of 55, it did not rain
  • 1 June 2010:  64 with a low of 51, 0.07" of rain

LEGSSES!  They were encased in jeans for the LA and Chicago auditions, but I do love Cat Deeley's LEGSSES.

Congratulations to Ken Griffey Jr on an outstanding 20 year career in which he hit 630 home runs, putting him 5th on the all time list.  His career batting average is .284 and he finishes his career with 2,781 hits and 1,836 RBI.  He won 10 Gold Gloves as an outfielder, was the 1992 All Star game MVP, the 1997 American League MVP, and was named to the MLB all century team in 1999.  Griffey spend his first 11 seasons with the Mariners, playing with Randy Johnson, Edgar Martinez, Alex Rodgriguez, Jay Buhner, and Jamie Moyer.  Griffey announced his retirement from baseball yesterday.

I gave up trying to make the bed with any of the cats in the room, especially since Gracie arrived.

She arrives in a blur - in nanoseconds - when I start to make the bed every morning. I don't know what sound it is that tips her off, but she is always there in a blink, and then I simply can not do anything without her clawrs in the pillow, grabbing the sheets, etc.

I now enter the room and immediately close the door.

    ahhhh... much better.

Curtains do make a bedroom more restful... something about fabric versus blinds. Awwww... Mr. Tucker sounds so cute!

  1. I wondered the same thing about the ipad. Doesn't the screen get all greasy and disgusting? I don't really like that idea at all.

I have an iphone. They make a anti-glare film for the screen that is fantastic. It make finger smudges a non issue.

Cats are definitely funny little critters. Every one seems to have its own quirks.

Trav: That's a lot of rain! But that's also why rainbows are easier to spot there, too, eh? And from my 'girl' point of view, I noticed that you said, 'we' when talking about making the bed. That means you're helping with the chores. Good man!

Don't know about cats and beds and our dog was not allowed in the bedroom.

I prefer blinds in the bedroom but have curtains as well for summer to make it darker. :)

I still have a couple of rooms with blinds and it buggs me. I'm trying to buy some but can not find anything I like...
Have a great weekend and let's get warmer weather in your neck of the woods,k? :)

  1. Barb: A friend of mine suggested that Mr Tucker gets pissed off because I wash his smell out of the sheets. That never occurred to me, but it seems plausible.

Lois: I think our room is much darker now when we close the curtains than when we had blinds.

    Charles: That's a good point.

Jeff: But what happens to the smudges? Is the screen smudge-proof, or is it just easier to clean?

GGG: Definitely we. It goes faster when we both do it.

Akelamalu: I definitely prefer curtains. But in that big window in the dining room/library, I think we might try shutters.

Ivanhoe: We like basic panels and simple curtain rods.
