Happy Bloggiversary to me!

Trav's Thoughts began on 28 October 2006.

Recently I've been remiss at answering your comments.  You take time out of your days to cruise by and read what I've written, or look at the pictures, or visit a link I offer, or view the video clips I find, or listen to the music I post.  Many of you have been here since that first post, and others have stumbled upon this place along the way.

I feel a sense of community with all of you.  Early on in the process I made it my philosophy to answer comments.  After all, you were moved to take a few extra minutes to write them.  It's only right for me to respond.

I apologize for not doing that more regularly.  The only excuse I have is that life has gotten busy.  That's true, but more and more I understand that this blog is part of my life.  So "life got in the way" is kind of a measly reason for not interacting with you when you so generously offer your thoughts to me.

I can't ignore the people and things in my brick and mortar world that need my attention.  And I can't ignore the people and things in my virtual world that also need my attention.

So it comes down to balance, doesn't it?  And after four years of having this place I realize that sometimes brick and mortar balances with virtual.  Sometimes it doesn't.

You can depend on this...when the cycle of my life moves back into balance, I will answer your comments regularly.  Until then, know that I read what you have to say to me and consider your words as much a part of this places as my own words and images and links and videos and music Sets.

You are my community.

Happy blogoversary Travis. I'm so glad you started blogging. That way I could meet you!

I hear ya about the balance thingy...for me it's always a treat when you pop up in my reader.

    Hugs!

  1. Happy blogoversary indeed. And yes, sometimes life is there and blogging gets pushed back. Nothing to be concerned about.

  1. Happy Blogoversary Travis!
We all have to do the balancing act every now and then! I'm just glad to call you friend!

  1. Happy blogoversary. You have a great place that we all love to visit. Not to worry about the response. We all have times when life is more flow than ebb. In fact, my 5 on Friday is up on Thursday because tomorrow is a busy day and Blogger was being decidedly uncooperative. Hope everyone will stop by even if I can't make the rounds until late in the day or Saturday.

  1. Happy Blogoversary, Travis. Four years is a long time to blog. Your blog is always interesting and fun to read.

Never worry about commenting. Some times life does get in the way. We know you love us too much to quit.

I am sure you are very busy right now with being a worker bee and helping Mimi.

Happy Bloggiversary! And don't sweat the replies. Real life trumps virtual, but we're here. Well . . . I'm here now, but I wasn't all week. That kidney stone thingy called my name. But thanks for the peace quotes and I planning to hunt down your analysis of DWTS because I was in the hospital - sleeping through it this week~!

A belated Happy Blogoversary, Travis! I always find it interesting to see how many people began their blogs around the same time as mine and I was rather surprised to see that yours is actually a little younger than mine, I thought it was older for some reason.

I do that same balancing act and fail miserably more often than not as there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day or the night anymore to get everything done that requires attention. If I could blog at work then you can bet I'd have plenty of time but alas, I can't but I certainly do understand why the company doesn't allow it - liability is a major issue for lots of folks these days and I sure don't want something that I say to ever reflect badly on the company I work for.

So, until I win the lottery and can afford to stay home and blog to my heart's content, I balance and juggle just like yourself. What makes part of being a member of the blogging community really nice, though, is that we all know that even if we can't bear there all the time - we are all there for each other and that means a lot. As long as I said it in a way that makes sense, of course!

Best wishes for another great four years - I look forward to it!

  1. I missed it. I totally missed your blog's anniversary, and I am sorry. I have let my life get so heavily tilted, that my blog life is off kilter. I apologize.

It has been a new learning experience as parent, not that they all are. Having a middle-schooler and a high schooler is testing me in new ways, and it's not always a pretty thing. I shall endeavor to check in with you a bit more often, especially now that marching band season is drawing to a close. I suppose, though, that for the next six-seven years, this is my new reality with July-November not being my own. Oh well, I chose to be a parent, and an involved one at that, so perhaps I will learn to incorporate my writing into my parenting life. :)
