Dona Nobis Pacem in review

Each year as I cruise around the bloggosphere "collecting" all the amazing Peace posts, some really speak to me.  I like to share those with my blog pals who may not have had a chance to get to them.

Of course, if you didn't participate and are wondering what this is all about, I encourage you to read a wonderful weaving of love and peace at Mimi Writes.  The piece is beautiful on its own, but it also encompasses what this movement means not only to Mimi, the founder of Blog Blast for Peace, but also to those of us who continue to participate.

I don't do Facebook or Twitter, so I know I missed a lot more words and images about Peace. I was able to visit everyone who signed Mr Linky as of Saturday at Mimi's

I hesitate to say anything, but it's kind of important to me, so I will.  There were bloggers who signed Mr Linky but didn't post a Peace Globe or Peace Message.  I consider that a breach of blogging etiquette.  If all you want is site hits, that's your business.  But next time, maybe consider moving through the bloggosphere with a little more respect.  Make your signing honest and post a Peace Globe.  You can also mark your calendar for 4 November 2011, when we'll fly our Peace Globes again under the banner of Dona Nobis Pacem.

I'm pretty sure none of the bloggers who signed without posting are going to read this, but it makes me feel better to post it.  Thanks for your indulgence.

I urge you all to go forward in this new Peace Year and be active for Peace in your lives.

  1. It's hard to believe people would stoop so low just to get some hits... :(

I've never understood the value of site "hits".

I've had a business web site for about 15 years. I get hundreds of thousands of "hits" every month. That doesn't put a single dime in my pocket unless they actually pick up the phone and place an order with me... and nobody knows the stats but me and my site host, and I know he's not impressed! Where's the big deal?

I read quite a lot who had signed the Mr Linky too Trav and was annoyed to find some hadn't posted a Peace Globe - in my opinion a really cheap shot!

However, there were lots more who had posted wonderful messages of Peace and I thoroughly enjoyed reading them. :)

  1. You read my mind Travis...it was frustrating, especially with so many people participating this year to click a name and then take a second to scroll to ensure I did not miss something, only to find they did not even fly a Peace Globe, no less mention the whole day.

  1. Terra: Well, I don't really know for sure, but that's what it seemed like.

Barb: I guess it's important for some kinds of blog advertising, but I've never really understood that part of blogging, or really been interested in it.

Akelamalu: Ditto. As I got further into the linky list, there was less signing without posting.

V: It sure did get tiring.

    Kate: Indeed.

In case EVERYONE does not know CyberCelt, who screwed up the Mr. Linky by not patiently waiting for her name to appear--it was me. I think my name was on there 10 times before I stopped. I apologize.

HOWEVER, all my blogs had peace globes.

I was a little disappointed in those who linked but posted no globe. I was also a little disappointed in those who linked multiple times (five or six). That seemed a little unnecessary.
    Peace to you and yours.

Trav: Tried to post a comment yesterday and it bit the dust. I never even considered blog stats. I just thought folks forgot. But what you brought up makes sense considering some of the sites that had no peace post. Then there was me . . . who signed up twice on Mimi's list. It had nothing to do with stats, but everything to do with forgetting that I signed up a long time ago.

  1. CyberCelt: I think I missed commenting on one of your Peace posts, but I did see that you had posted. No worries about getting multiple signatures on Mr Linky. I've done that in the past when it didn't look like my signature saved.

Driller: I think I did that the first few times I encountered Mr Linky. Sometimes I couldn't tell whether it saved. Then I realized you have to refresh. DOH!

GGG: I went to sign in and noticed that my name was up first, but I hadn't actually done that entry! I don't know how, but it must have automatically pulled my name in when Mimi put up the code. Very strange.

  1. thanks so much for linking to me and others! what a great way to show the support!

So many people posted a link without a globe? What a lousy thing to do, and certainly not one that's likely to win them any brownie points with this crowd.

Thank you to all of you who DO blog for peace, who DO want it with all of your hearts.
