Five on Friday Set 137

Posted: Friday, August 31, 2012 by Travis Cody in

I felt like some old style rock and roll this week.

Remember when it was rock and roll?  Maybe you don't.  These days we've got all kinds of categories for rock music.  But back in the day, anything with that recognizable back beat was called rock and roll.

Some of these tunes you might be tempted to call pop.  But don't.  They are rock and roll.

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend gang!

Somethin' Else, written by Sharon Sheeley/Bob Cochran, released by Eddie Cochran in 1959

Shake Rattle and Roll, written by Charles E Calhoun (Jesse Stone), as released by Bill Haley and His Comets in 1954

Rockin' Robin, written by Leon Rene, as released by Bobby Day in 1958

At The Hop, written by Arthur Singer/John Medora/David White, released by Danny & the Juniors in 1957

Johnny B. Goode, written by Chuck Berry, released by Chuck Berry in 1958
