Welcome to yet another Manic Monday with Mo. Today's theme is Snap. Don't forget to check with Morgen at It's A Blog Eat Blog World.

Earlier in the week I got a chance to participate in a neat writing exercise. The idea was to develop six word stories. I came up with three that I posted on Saturday.

I thought that this format would be fun to combine with today's Manic Monday word. So here I present my six letter Snap stories.

"Not while I'm working," he snapped.

She sees them together and snaps.

Metal caskets arrive.
Troops snap to.

Snapping, his fist connected.
She fled.

Rope swings.
Creaking wood.
Branch snaps.

Blooming snapdragons.
Heart-broken, he turns away.

Big lead.
Snap throw.
Picked off.

Blind date.
Snap appraisal.
Hooked up.

Tires screech.
A scream.
Neck snaps.

  1. Looks like you have a natural talent for six words stories... :) they're cool

  1. Janna says:

Wow, the last one is very powerful. Excellent. Wow.

I cringed when I read the one about "His fist connected, She fled..." Yikes. It's good writing, in the sense that it effectively conjures up a very uncomfortable image. (And probably some bad memories for people who've endured domestic abuse).

You are, as always, an effective wordsmith.
    Good job.

  1. I'll tell you what I told Mo: Snap out of it! (teehee!)

Come by and see my MM post - I think you'll like it.

  1. Gattina says:

Good ones, Trav! My favorites here are:

    Rope swings.
    Creaking wood.
    Branch snaps.

    and

    Tires screech.
    A scream.
    Neck snaps.

The imagery is spooky, but fascinating.

Crap, Just where do I end?

I had better stop here now.

    Later Y'all

My favorite from a writer's perspective is "his fist connected she fled" --excellent writing jmust for the reason it made Janna cringe. Very evocative.

My favorite from a reader's perspective is the last one--there are so many reasons for 'neck snaps'---lots of story there

So glad you are having this much fun with this.

    Thanks for the help

    Smooch

  1. Good stuff! Sorry I've been a stranger but I've been a bit obsessed with the new PC. Or should I say I've been busy in PHOENIX?

  1. Anndi says:

caskets.. troops.. strikes a chord with me today..

  1. Terra: They are fun, but it's also tough trying to make the words tell complete stories.

Janna: I really enjoyed this exercise, because it reinforces the lesson of economy with language. You really can get your point across with fewer words.

Songbird: But it's fun!! Oh, alright...maybe.

    Gattina: Glad you stopped by!

    John: Thanks.

    Lizza: Spooky and slightly morbid.

Meloncutter: LOL! Thanks for cruising by.

  1. V: Thanks dude.

Mags: I just can't seem to stop myself.

    Jamie: Efficiency and economy!

Turn: I think the more exercises I can do, the more chance I have to grow and correct some problems with some of my current longer work.

Lisa: It's fun and addictive, isn't it?

Matt: Hey meat man! How's the colon?

Mo: Hilarious! My biggest problem was stopping!

  1. Comedy: Snappy - heehee!

Danielle: Very addictive, and I think I conquered the urge to turn them into poems.

    Deb: I know.

Robinson: I hope I rose to the challenge.

Jeff: LOL. Phoenix! Has it exploded yet?

Ann: Did the same with me too yesterday.
