Thursday 13 - Peace in the Library
Posted: Thursday, June 07, 2007 by Travis Cody inJust a quick note about Dona Nobis Pacem yesterday. I spend a wonderful evening cruising around the bloggosphere checking out the globes and posts. I want to thank and congratulate Mimi and her Peace Elves for all the hard work. I've still got more places I want to visit too.
Whoa! Hold the phone! I'm doing a 13 two weeks in a row.
Come with me kids as we take another peaceful turn through my library.
OH WAIT!! Before we do that...check these out...
These are my new bookends. I bought three pair. I need to use the tops of my bookcases because of spillover. So I'm going to hi-light some special collections, like these...
These children's classics are volumes my mother had as a child. I read them over and over when I was a kid. The copyright dates are all from the 1920's and 1930's. There are no actual dates of publication on any of the volumes, just the copyright dates.
Anyway, I thought the bookends were very classic. So I'll use two sets in the library. Then I have a small two shelf bookcase I got from my grandpa. The Brittanica yearbooks you see in that first photo will go on that, and then the third set of bookends will go on top. I also have a set of Brittanica encyclopedias that are over 50 years old.
So the bookends have a classic look to go with classic books, and they'll be a nice design element to bridge the walkway between the library and the living room.
Now for that peaceful walk in the stacks. Here are the next 13 authors in my library.
1. Terry Brooks - The Shannara series
2. Dale Brown - Flight of the Old Dog, Spy Masters, Night of the Hawk, Chains of Command, Storming Heaven, Fatal Terrain, Tin Man
3. RL Bruckberger - Image of America
4. Steven Brust - Jhereg, Yendi, Teckla, Taltos, Phoenix, Athyra, Five Hundred Years Later, Phoenix Guards
5. Jim Butcher - Harry Dresden series
6. Gerry Carroll - North Star
7. Jack Chalker - Flux and Anchor series
8. Raymond Chandler - Big Sleep, Farewell My Lovely, High Window
9. CJ Cherryh - Heavy Time, Fortress in the Eye of Time
10. Tom Clancy - Hunt For Red October, Red Storm Rising, Patriot Games, Cardinal of the Kremlin, Clear and Present Danger, Sum of All Fears, Without Remorse, Debt of Honor, Executive Orders
11. Molly Cochran with Warren Murphy - The Forever King
12. Susan Conant - The Barker Street Regulars
13. Michael Conley - Fang the Gnome, King of the Sceptred Isle
