...it's our Top 10!



That's right.  So You Think You Can Dance only has room for 10 dancers this season, 5 guys and 5 gals.  That's so we can bring back some All Stars to help out.

I'm looking forward to this.  Each week, our finalists will select a dance style at random.  Then they will have the opportunity to work with a choreographer and an All Star in that style.  Isn't that cool?  

The All Star dancers are competitors from previous seasons.  Here they are:

Ade Obayomi, ballet dancer from Season 5
Allison Holker, contemporary dancer from Season 2
Anya Garnis, ballroom dancer from Season 3
Comfort Fedoke, hip hop dancer from Season 4
Courtney Galiano, contemporary from Season 4
Dominic Sandoval, break dancer from Season 3
Kathryn McCormick, contemporary dancer from Season 6
Lauren Gottlieb, contemporary jazz dancer from Season 3
Mark Kanemura, contemporary from Season 4
Neil Haskell, contemporary dancer from Season 3
Pasha Kovalev, ballroom dancer from Season 3
Steven "Twitch" Boss, hip hop dancer from Season 4

And here's another new thing.  After wrapping Vegas callbacks, we don't get the standard long walk to judgment.  Instead, a judge visits or phones each of the remaining 24 to tell them whether they've made it into the Top 10.

This is a tough cut, because the contemporary dancers are among the best I've seen across all seasons.  But this show wants some diversity, so some fantastic dancers are going to miss out.


I'm honest enough to suggest that the judges and producers are hedging bets with some of these kids, giving them another year to cook.


So...here are the Top 5 guys and Top 5 gals for Season 7, in the order they were announced.  Pictures to follow because you know there will be recaps.  It's what I do.

Ana Cristina Santana is a 24 year old salsa dancer.
Lauren Froderman is an 18 year old contemporary jazz dancer.

Ashley Galvan is an 18 year old contemporary dancer.

Jose Ruiz is a 21 year old break dancer.

Melinda Sullivan is a 22 year old tap dancer.

Alex Wong is a 23 year old ballet dancer.

Adechike Torbert is a 23 year old contemporary dancer.

Alexie Agdeppa is a 26 year old jazz dancer.

Kent Boyd is an 18 year old contemporary dancer.
Robert Roldan is a 19 year old contemporary dancer.

Billy Bell is a 20 year old contemporary dancer.


There's your twist...we get 6 guys because they are all so damn good.



This is a powerful group.  And I suspect that pairing these kids with the All Stars from prior seasons is going to produce some big time moments this season.  If you're a casual viewer or have never watched before, you may want to check this out.


And do it tonight because it's the first round for votes!!!

    I don't recall her name, but I wanted that cute little blond to be in the top five girls.

    I think this show is awesome. Dancers are such quirky and lovely people. They make me smile.

    I watched last night ...but had not really seen much before that

    The top 10 makes it so much more difficult..the All-Stars will be quite a twist and add excitement

    I must have missed it, but Lauren is the dancer I mentioned and she is in the top five.
