Blog Blast for Peace - 5 Nov 2009

Do you blog for peace? Well, if you haven't you should consider it, because if words are powerful, then this matters.

If you have a Peace Globe, be ready to fly it on 5 November 2009. If you don't have one, then click here to see how to get one. It's easy. Just grab one of the Peace Globe designs from the post, sign it or decorate it with your thoughts, and fly it on Blog Blast day under the post title Dona Nobis Pacem.

This will be my fifth time participating in Blog Blast for Peace. If you scroll down my side bar a bit, you can see a few of my Peace Globes, and click a link or two to visit one of my posts. Or for convenience sake, and if you have the time and interest, you can strap into the Wayback Machine right here.

You can visit the Official Site here. And you can read how it all began with a bowl of blue marbles here and how it continued with a box of little dolls here.

Most of my blog pals know all about this, and have been involved for as long as I have. But if you're new, please consider joining us on 5 Nov 2009. You'll be glad you did. It's one of the more rewarding things I've done as a member of this blogging community, and it has spurred me to act more effectively in my bricks-and-mortar community as well.

If words are powerful, and I believe they are, then this matters.

I am really looking forward to November's Blog Blast for Peace. I think it may be the best ever.

  1. I missed it last year, but will be ready to participate again this November.

  1. Can you believe this is our 6th? WOW....

I am trying to help our Queen with the music portion of the video...

  1. Trav - It's been a long time since I discovered that blue earth in a bowl of marbles and the dolls...well...they need to be taken out of the box (thank you for reminding me) and well...the globes are spinning out of control you see...not because they have magic (although sometimes I think they do) but because they hold the power of all our words in unison.

When I read posts like this and see the diverse colors they make in the blogosphere, the richness of meaning we collectively make, I am reminded to keep it simple, stop trying so hard to evolve and change, and never lose sight of the basic symbolism of the dolls and the marbles.

You always take me back to the beginning. Thank you. I needed that this morning.

  1. P.S. Vinny - I am working on getting the music to you today. Thank you!

  1. I've still not gotten around to developing one. A good thing to do but for me it has not fallen at a time when I am not swamped with other things.

I have it on my calendar Trav and of course I will be joining in Blog Blast for Peace in November. :)

  1. I did this once with my previous blog. I may have to try and come up with something for Nov. 5.

  1. Thom: It's really one of the more special days in the bloggosphere. I've actually played hooky from work.

    Nick: Agreed.

    Driller: Good deal.

V: I just barely missed the first one, being a brand new infant blogger in Nov 06. But I did meet Mimi then and I'm all in now.

Mimi: Reading about the marbles and the dolls every year is becoming nearly as important to me as reading the Declaration every year. And that's not hyperbole. I mean it.

Charles: I'd be happy to make a Globe for you if you like. Just say the word and shoot me a quote or an image that you favor.

    Ivanhoe: Excellent!

Akelamalu: You're one of the blog pals I met through Blog Blast!

Southern: You are most welcome to join us again.

  1. Video views at YouTube have DOUBLED sinced you posted this.
Wow. It would go viral if every peace blogger did the same. I'm convinced.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the reminder, Trav. I need to start thinking about this well in advance of the date cause it takes me forever to figure out how to make a new peace globe for my blog.

  1. This will be my fifth time as well... see you there :)

  1. Mimi: If I had even a small part of that, then I'm glad.

Jeni: I'm sure Mimi will have several more special events leading up to the day.

    Songbird: I know you will!

    Terra: Excellent!
